Steeple Update

In October 2024, the R C Pratt Construction completed work on our steeple. It was pressure cleaned and the wooden base scraped and painted. A large high-reach was use to get up to the top and complete the work. It looks like new. We had two surprises. The found a large masonry hole in our concrete block chimney. The chimney is now used only to vent our oil heater, not for a wood or coal fire. Still, it needed to be addressed. Having the high-reach in place, a masonry patch was applied rather easily. It is a patch, but a good one. We also learned the reason only one of our four our steeple lights worked was that the others had fallen apart after about twenty years on Granite Lake. Richard Pratt took a master electrician up to the top and he replaced all four of the old fixtures and installed four new LED bulbs. During the Apple Fest, the high-reach was parked next door on a back lot belonging to John Cucchi. He also provided parking for our craft vendors. We appreciate John's help with this project and the Apple Fest.
