A Light in the Darkness
Our thanks to Jen Pepin and Michaels Power Company for your help replacing the lights on our steeple!
As many of you know, a power surge blew the lights in the steeple and they were out all summer. Jen took the initiative to ask the Michaels Power Company for help installing the lights when they were doing some other work in our area. We are very grateful The Food PantryThank you for your donations to the food pantry. We received donations from your gardens and your pantries. Our efforts provided over 2000 pounds of food!
The food pantry very gladly received this food and sent us a gracious Thank You note. |
Steeple UpdateIn October 2024, the R C Pratt Construction completed work on our steeple. It was pressure cleaned and the wooden base scraped and painted. A large high-reach was use to get up to the top and complete the work. It looks like new. We had two surprises. The found a large masonry hole in our concrete block chimney. The chimney is now used only to vent our oil heater, not for a wood or coal fire. Still, it needed to be addressed. Having the high-reach in place, a masonry patch was applied rather easily. It is a patch, but a good one. We also learned the reason only one of our four our steeple lights worked was that the others had fallen apart after about twenty years on Granite Lake. Richard Pratt took a master electrician up to the top and he replaced all four of the old fixtures and installed four new LED bulbs. During the Apple Fest, the high-reach was parked next door on a back lot belonging to John Cucchi. He also provided parking for our craft vendors. We appreciate John's help with this project and the Apple Fest.
The Hundred Nights ShelterYour donations of gently used winter clothing and hygiene goods are being delivered to the Hundred Nights shelter where they are being distributed to the needy.
Chapel RestorationWinter 2023 the Chapel restored the front gabel. You may have noticed that the paint was peeling and the window is not in the best condition. The Chapel decided to replace the clapboards on the front gabel of the church replaced with siding. At the same time the window was replaced and a new drip edge install.
Many thanks to all who have donated to the building fund to maintain the chapel. These generous donations are funding the majority of the cost of these repairs. Chapel photo courtesy of John Halter, 6/9/2024 |
Path to the Lake
Thomas Travers, the person doing the July and August Wednesday Evening Coffee Houses at the Chapel this summer, has cleared the path to the water behind our Chapel. It looks great! If you visit one of his Wednesday evening's events this summer, please be sure to thank him. Lake photo courtesy of John Halter, 2024 Christmas AppealDue to your generous donations from our Christmas appeal letter, we were able to fund repainting the interior windows of the chapel, repair a crack in the foundation, and otherwise continue to maintain this 1819 building.
Most recently we replaced our oil tanks. We could not do it without you. Thank You! |
